Terms and Conditions
EGILITBILITY:
Open to legal residents of the United States, Puerto Rico and District of Columbia
High school seniors (including GED students) who plan to enroll in college within the next academic year; First year undergraduates
At least 16 years old at the time of submission
Only one application per person is allowed. No resubmissions or late submissions will be accepted.
All information provided by the applicant must be accurate and complete
Relatives or persons living in the same household of any person on the judging committee will be considered a conflict of interest and ineligible
*No prize will be awarded to any applicant who doesn’t meet the eligibility requirements.
PUBLICITY, USE OF NAME AND LIKENESS: By submitting an entry, each applicant consents to the use of their name, city and state of residence, entry, likeness, photograph, and image for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes in any media, online or offline, without further permission, consent, payment, or other consideration. Applicants may not opt out of this requirement.
ORIGINALITY, NO INFRINGEMENT: All submissions must be the original work of the applicant. All applicants agree that their submission will not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party, including any copyright, trademark or patent rights. Plagiarism in any form will result in disqualification. Use of artificial intelligence or similar synthetic media programs to generate art or content is prohibited and will result in disqualification. Submissions must not contain obscene, offensive, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate content, as determined solely by the organization.
JUDGING: There will be three winners. First, second and third place winners. All submissions will be reviewed and judged based on the rubric supplied.
NOTIFICATION OF WINNER: Winners will be notified within the timeline announced and must complete and return a winners affidavit within 5 days of notification. If the winner does not respond with a completed winners affidavit form within 5 days of notification, an alternate winner will be selected. Only winners will be notified and announced publicly.
PRIZE AND AWARD: The applicants with the winning entries will receive a scholarship in the amounts listed. If the winners are already enrolled in an educational institution, the scholarship amount will be paid directly to the institution to complete payment of the winner’s tuition, fees, and books and supplies expenses. Any remainder of the scholarship will be paid directly to the winner. No substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted.
Payment of awards will be contingent upon receipt of verification that the applicant meets all of the eligibility requirements and respond with a completed winners affidavit. We reserve the right to announce additional prizes, not yet determined. All scholarships and any additional prizes are awarded without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, age, or national origin.
SUBMISSION FOR ENTRY: All submissions must be uploaded online through the organization’s website. PDF, PNG, and JPEG files will be accepted. No late submissions will be accepted. Comic submissions must be 10 pages in length. The cover page does not count toward the 10-page requirement. Artist statements must not exceed 500 words. Submissions that do not meet these requirements may be deemed ineligible.
GENERAL CLAUSE: The organization reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the challenge if it cannot be conducted as planned for any reason, including technical issues, fraud, or other causes beyond the organization’s control. Decisions by the organization regarding all aspects of the challenge are final and binding.
